Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
Peace for me is the beach. My toes touching the damp sand, making words with my fingers in the sand. I watch the waves come and go, the power is amazing! I listen to the waves crash and hear the water go back in. The body of water goes on and on. My favorite part of the beach is watching the sunset. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale and when I lived there I didn’t take full advantage of God’s creation, His beautiful ocean. The beauty of the different colors the sun gives coming up makes my heart feel such peace. I feel God’s presence the most when I am walking on the beach or sitting and listening to the waves. To breathe in the salt water feels to fresh and calming.
Where do you find peace?
Some people like to go to the mountains. Maybe you like a nice long hot bath? Some like a nice long walk. Some people like to take a drive. Some of you parents haven’t been able to get a true peaceful break.
The most important place to get true peace is through Jesus Christ. Through Him we can find true peace, true rest. In Isaiah 40:29 it says, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. AMEN! I find comfort in that verse. I feel Him actually holding me when I am on the beach. I feel His power as the waves crash and pull me in.
Jesus wants us to come to Him and lay it down for Him to carry. Sometimes when I have a heavy burden I picture handing it over to Him physically and I say, “Jesus please take this. I need your help. Help me to fully give it to you.” This helps me to feel peace and it makes me calm.
Find those moments even if you are not able to get away. Be creative. I sometimes will sit by some shells we have collected over the years and listen to ocean sounds if I can’t get to the beach.
God is wherever you are at all times. He hears you and loves you. He is the only one that can give you true peace and comfort. Go to Him.
Blessings,
Patty Myers
