Honestly, I am not one for New Year’s resolution, but I still love seeing the opportunity of what new beginnings bring.
A new year sets off the societal signal to reset your {fill the blank}. However, it is interesting to look at what the big deal is about New Years. Today is not much different than yesterday. We have the same sun, same moon, same earth, same God, and same Savior. But there is still something about the opportunity of a new beginning.
What is an opportunity? It is when we give permission to take advantage of a situation that will make a difference. We all have situations that can be turned into opportunities everyday, but seldom do we give ourself permission to act on those situations to make the most it. Opportunities pass us by everyday, left on the shelf with dust piling up on them.
It is time for us to step into our next opportunity, giving ourselves permission to take advantage of it.
By the way, God has already given us permission.
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
God loves using our situations and circumstances to stretch and grow us. These are God opportunities. But there is something we must do to really step into His opportunities.
RENEW!
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who hope in the Lord will RENEW their strength…”
The Hebrew translation to the word renew means to pass through, pass on, pass by, go through, grow up. In essence God is telling us to breakthrough our situations and grow in our strength. It is through our hope in God that gives us renewal.
From one parent with one very special child to another, look beyond your situations and RENEW your strength that is rooted in Christ Jesus. It is a new year, an opportunity for a new beginning. It is an opportunity for you and I to move out of the turmoil, quicksand that so easily burdens us in parenting.
Do away with the situation and SEE THE OPPORTUNITY.
Dismiss the burden and WELCOME THE FREEDOM IN CHRIST.
Reject the anxiety and EMBRACE THE PEACE OF GOD THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING.
RENEW your strength.
Happy ReNew Year.
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31
