You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
I have just started a new Bible Study and we are reading Experiencing God. I have tried to do this study about three times but each time I get off track somehow and stop doing it. I didn’t have much accountability before and tried to do it on my own. Now I have a small group that helps me to be accountable and I am doing the daily workbook.
In this study I have learned so much in the few short weeks we have been doing it. I wanted to share it with you. One of the biggest points I learned so far is that I have been doing it all backwards. I usually start out my day and say, “Lord help me with _____”, or maybe “Lord I have this or that today help me ____”. Instead of God joining our plans He wants us to join His plans. The Bible says that Christ sharpens us, he develops our character so that we can accomplish His plans. Sounds pretty easy, but most of us want to control what is going on, then ask for help when we are struggling. Christ says, let me lead your way, let me be in the driver seat and you be the passenger. He says let me steer the ship.
I find true comfort with that. His ways are perfect. I may think my ways are, but they are not. Sometimes I pray for my son Charlie and ask God to help him with his academics and tell God that I am nervous he is getting behind. Instead I need to pray, “Lord help me to know your plan with Charlie and school. Guide me and strengthen me in what your will and plans are in this.” Maybe you have an IEP meeting coming up, instead of asking God to give you _____ for your child, ask God to have you join His plans and His will for your child. Ask Him to develop and sharpen your character as you speak in the meeting. God will give you strength and peace as you accomplish His plans, not your own.
Christ wants us to join Him.
He wants a close relationship with YOU.
He loves YOU.
He sacrificed so much for YOU.
Let Him lead and you follow.
Blessings,
Patty Myers
