Isaiah 46:4
I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
I have been going non-stop for years with my family, my job, and all my responsibilities. Are you a parent who works all day (sometimes several jobs) and then has to come home to your family and help them, clean up the house, pay the bills, feed the pets, get the car fixed, buy groceries, or get the kids to the doctors? The list can go on and on. Most of us are in this position. It is a hard balance sometimes to get it all in without going crazy.
When I work I give it my all. Yes I can be a workaholic. Before this last year I would always bring work home. I would always try and make my job better and more efficient, by… creating more work. It was a vicious cycle.
Then I drove my daughter, Chelsea, to college in August 2013 and on that trip I got some really tough news. From that day, I made a decision to change my workaholic ways and spend more time with my family. We all have things that take us away from connecting better with our family. What are those things for you? Are you willing to change to focus more on them? I thought the work that I was doing though was important and I didn’t see it as “taking away time from my family”.
On earth our family is the closest thing we have to heaven. On your last days here on earth it won’t matter what promotion you had, how much money you made, what awards you have gotten. It will only matter that your family is right beside you, loving you.
Rely on Christ to carry you and pick you up, especially on those really tough days. He wants you to come to Him and lay it all out, to cry to Him, to thank Him, and to spend daily time with Him. We all have a story and can feel weary at times, but Christ wants to be there to carry you. You are His precious child that He knit special. I feel so humbled when I think about how much he loves me and how he carries me every single day. It brings a smile to my face and joy in my heart. You are loved too. Let Him carry you.
Blessings,
Patty Myers
