I always pray before I write for this blog to see if there is something God wants me to specifically write about. I really feel impressed that there are many who are reading this, who are struggling under the weight of heavier than usual burdens right now.
The winter months can be difficult. There has been so much extreme weather in many parts of the world, and it’s been a severe season with the flu and multiple viruses that are going around. These things have wreaked havoc, physically, emotionally and financially on many families. For many of us, 2014 has not gotten off to a great start as we have dealt with extra stress on top of our usually full plates.
Friends, I want to encourage you… even though your life may seem out of control, God is still on the throne, and He is still in control. He sees every struggle you are dealing with. He sees every tear, every frustration, every heartache, every disappointment, every illness and every set back you and your loved ones are dealing with and facing. Jesus sees and knows how much you sacrifice and how hard you try…and even though you feel like you’re doing your best and it’s just not good enough and you just can’t get ahead or catch a break…that is a lie from the enemy. The Bible says that God encourages us. He never discourages us. God tells us to do our best… and then let go and leave the rest to Him. He will see us through. It’s not by our power or strength, but by His and through Him we can do all things!
As you face this new week and the beginning of a new month… when you arise each day, spend time in prayer and ask God to let His joy be your strength. Joy is not the same as happiness. We can have joy despite our circumstances. Joy is that deep-rooted feeling that we get from knowing that God is in control. It’s knowing that we are loved with an unconditional, everlasting love by a Savior who gave His life so we could live. It’s the peace that comes from knowing that we can trust Him with our burdens and exchange them for His yoke which is light and easy. He is our hope, our sanctuary, and our shelter in the storms and He is reaching out to you and saying, “rest in Me…trust Me…you don’t see a way, but I have made a way….I love you and your family and I hold you all firmly in My grip and I have a good, hope-filled plan for you all.”
Let me offer this prayer for you…
Dear Lord,
We ask for your peace that passes all understanding to consume each of us. May we find renewed strength, energy and stamina as we enter into this new week. Lord, help us to be filled with your joy no matter what we face. Help us to remember that even when things seem like they are falling apart, that is just a perception…you work all things together for good for those who love you and you see the big picture that we can’t yet see. Lord, when we are weak, you are strong in us and your grace is always sufficient. Help us not to struggle with inadequacies…help us not to feel overwhelmed…we come with outstretched hands and say, “Lord, help us to do what we can’t on our own. Please go before us and make the rough roads smooth and make a way where there seems to be no way.” Help us to remember the joy of our salvation and to live with an eternal perspective, knowing that this is the night before the dawn and with your help, we can run the race that is before us. Lord, please bless those we love and cover them in the shelter of your wings. Lord, please touch them as only you can…please ease their pain and suffering and may they find you in new ways they’ve never known. Lord, please meet each need…physically, emotionally, mentally, financially and spiritually. We thank you in advance for what you will do. We love you Lord and we praise you. In the name of Jesus we ask these things, Amen.
Blessings be upon you and your family!
In His love,
Debbie Kay
