Protect Our Children, Lord

February 8, 2016 by autismblessings 4 Comments

Do you have fears for your children? What do you worry about or think about daily? Is there something more on your mind that bothers you about the future of your child? *Mature material included in this blog I have a confessional.  One of the things I think about the most and have the most thoughts about is protecting my son Charlie.  I mean protecting Charlie from others who want to take … [Read more...]

God, Thy Will is hard some days

February 1, 2016 by Mike George 2 Comments

Why is it that some days everything just seems to flow? Positive energy is everywhere. It keeps you motivated and fills you with an unshakeable feeling that life is truly good. And, why is it that some days everything good can disappear in a heartbeat, despite your diligence and attention to doing what you think are all the right things?   Take, for instance, last week. Jan and I … [Read more...]

The Only Name That Matters

November 20, 2015 by Jeff Davidson 5 Comments

“Cerebral palsy. Autism. Epilepsy. Intellectually disabled. Cognitively impaired.” I read the words over and over in a whisper. In fact, those words seemed to leap off the page despite the rest of the wording that filled the legal document I was holding. They were only eight words, but those were the eight words used to define my son. Our son has just turned eighteen years … [Read more...]

our child is struggling with church

November 2, 2015 by Shannon Dingle 3 Comments

One of our children is struggling with church. The volume of our music is too much for him. The lights and screens are a tad too bright. Sitting still during the sermon is often beyond his abilities. Usually, he and I walk the halls during that part of church. Yesterday, that meant talking to a new and patient friend about his favorite reptiles, including waterfall toads, troodon, … [Read more...]

What Fruit Do You Have?

October 12, 2015 by autismblessings Leave a Comment

What fruit do you have? That is what someone asked me once. I didn't know what they were talking about at first. I was thinking real life fruit that I eat? They laughed a little and said, "no the fruit of the spirit." I started to recite out loud Galations 5:22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control … [Read more...]

God’s timing is perfect!

September 8, 2015 by Mike George Leave a Comment

The basement is spotless and the stations are perfectly arranged. On one side of the room, a table to beautify nails. On the other, three plastic basins complete with soft coloured stones to perfect your feet. Plus a cosy arrangement of chairs, pillows and blankets to round out the spa setting. As I take it all in, I am awash in a wonderful feeling that our adult daughter, Tori, still takes … [Read more...]
