The book of Psalms contains some of the most beautiful promises ever written. As a father, I have discovered that the psalms capture the love, heartache, joy, and weariness of parenting children with special needs. The book of Psalms is the place you can go when you’re hurting and needing a reminder of God’s faithful promises.
Mom…dad…I encourage you to find a psalm that speaks to where you’re at on the special needs journey. Read it slowly. And then write out each of the promises that you discover from your Father…to you.
I’ve provided an example from one of my favorite psalms: Psalm 23.
This exercise, if you’ll take the time to do it, will renew your hope and strengthen you for the journey that lies ahead of you.
